This is the most commonly used program for employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis.

If you are offered a job by the Australian employer and they are willing to provide sponsorship, then you may be able to apply for a work visa. This visa is issued for the duration of the employment contract of for 4 years, whichever comes first.

Please also take note that Australian employers are generally reluctant to sponsor offshore candidates unless there are specific skills shortages. They often do not consider applicants unless they are:

• Already in possession of Australian residence visa
• Present in Australia for an interview
• Able to start work immediately or within 4-6 weeks

Otherwise, unless you are being transferred to Australia by your current employer, this visa can be very difficult to obtain.
